Terms of Service

Written plain on purpose. No traps. We built this site to help drivers, not to corner them.

Last updated June 5, 2026

GetCDL.org is run by TecTrav LLC (“TecTrav,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), a company based in Ohio. By using this site, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree with them, that's fair, but then this isn't the site for you and you shouldn't use it.

Who we are

GetCDL.org is a free educational resource for people working toward a commercial driver's license. It was built by a 15-year over-the-road CDL-A driver who got tired of every other CDL site being either a school trying to sell you something or a content farm that's never set foot in a truck. The legal entity behind it is TecTrav LLC. You can reach us anytime at team@tectrav.com.

Educational information only

This is the big one, so read it.

Everything on GetCDL.org is general educational information. None of it is legal, financial, tax, or licensing advice, and using the site does not create any kind of professional or advisory relationship between you and us.

CDL rules, fees, testing requirements, and free-training eligibility change constantly and are different in every state. They are set by your state DMV or BMV, by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), and by your local American Job Center, not by us. We do our best to keep things accurate and to point you at the official source, but we can't promise everything here is current or complete for your exact situation.

So before you spend a dime or make a decision:

  • Treat every dollar figure in the CDL Cost Calculator as an estimate. Real fees come from official state sources and can change without notice.
  • Treat the WIOA eligibility checker as a self-check, not a decision. It does not approve or deny you for anything. Only your local American Job Center can determine whether you actually qualify for funding.
  • Verify anything that matters with your state licensing agency, FMCSA, or your local Job Center before you act on it.

Know your numbers before you commit, and confirm them with the people who actually issue your license. Our Disclaimer goes into more detail on this.

You have to be 18

You must be at least 18 years old to use this site and to submit anything through our forms. If you're under 18, please don't use GetCDL.org or send us your information.

Using the site the right way

We keep this simple. Don't abuse the site or the people behind it. That means:

  • Don't submit false, stolen, or someone else's personal information.
  • Don't scrape, bulk-download, copy, or harvest the site's content or data.
  • Don't try to break, overload, hack, or reverse-engineer the site or its forms.
  • Don't use the site for anything illegal, or in a way that interferes with other people using it.

If you do any of that, we can cut off your access. No hard feelings, but the door's the door.

Lead forms, schools, and carriers

Some pages let you submit your contact information so CDL schools and carriers can reach out about training and jobs. That's optional, and it only happens if you ask for it.

If you check the consent box and submit a form, you're telling us it's okay for partner schools and carriers to contact you, including by phone and text, about CDL training. That consent is the whole reason the box exists. You can opt out anytime by emailing team@tectrav.com. How we handle your information is spelled out in our Privacy Policy.

A few honest notes about those third parties:

  • The schools and carriers you connect with are their own businesses. Their programs, pricing, promises, and contracts are governed by their terms, not ours.
  • We're not responsible for what a third-party school, carrier, advertiser, or linked website does, says, or charges. Do your own homework before you sign anything or pay anyone.
  • Some outbound links on this site may be affiliate or sponsored links. That never changes the information we give you, and it never costs you extra.

Our content belongs to us

The writing, tools, calculators, layout, and design on GetCDL.org are owned by TecTrav LLC, except for third-party material and official source data that belongs to whoever published it. You're welcome to read it, use it for your own personal, non-commercial purpose, and share a link. You can't copy it, republish it, sell it, or build a competing product out of it without our written permission.

No warranties — “as is”

We put real work into keeping this site useful and accurate. But we're a small educational site built from the cab of a truck, not a law firm or a government agency, and we have to be straight with you: the site and everything on it is provided “as is” and “as available,” with no warranties of any kind, express or implied.

We don't guarantee the site will always be available, error-free, or up to date, and we don't guarantee that any estimate, tool output, or piece of information will match what your state, FMCSA, or a Job Center actually tells you. You use the site at your own risk.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, TecTrav LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential losses that come from using the site or relying on anything you found here, including money you spent, decisions you made, or dealings you had with third-party schools or carriers.

This isn't us dodging responsibility for our own bad behavior. It's us being clear that a free information site can't be on the hook for every choice a reader makes out in the real world. Some states don't allow certain limitations, so parts of this may not apply to you.

Indemnification

If your use of the site, or your breaking of these terms, causes a claim against us, you agree to cover the reasonable costs we run into because of it. In plain English: if you misuse the site and it lands us in trouble, that's on you, not us.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the site grows or as the law changes. When we do, we'll update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. If you keep using the site after that, you're agreeing to the new version. Big changes, we'll make obvious.

Ending access

You can stop using GetCDL.org anytime. We can also suspend or end access to the site, or to anyone who abuses it, at our discretion. The sections that should outlive your use of the site (like content ownership, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) stay in effect after you're gone.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute connected to the site or these terms belongs in the state or federal courts located in Ohio, and you agree to that.
